Keele University Events and Conferencing team celebrate double sustainability success
Keele University’s award-winning Events and Conferencing team are celebrating another major success after achieving two prestigious sustainability accreditations.
The team has achieved the “3 Star Gold Food Made Good Standard” from the Sustainable Restaurants Association, which celebrates excellence in sustainable food sourcing, serving and practices across its events and conferencing food offer, as well as Keele’s campus food venues open to staff, students and visitors.
The team has also been awarded the ECOsmart Platinum certification by Greengage – the highest level of accreditation available – for its dedication to delivering events that prioritise environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
This double achievement highlights Keele University’s position as a leader in sustainable conferencing and events, ensuring delegates can enjoy high-quality experiences that are environmentally responsible.
Emma Woodcock, Head of Catering and Events at Keele University, said: “These accreditations are a fantastic recognition of the hard work and passion of our team. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and achieving the highest possible levels in both food and events showcases our commitment to making a positive impact for all of our stakeholders.”
Commenting on Keele’s ECOsmart Platinum achievement, Andrew Perolls, CEO at Greengage, said: “Achieving ECOsmart Platinum is no small feat, but it was clear from my visit to Keele University that they were destined for it.
“Sustainability runs through the DNA of this institution — from wind-generated power and hydrogen-fuelled vehicles to palm oil-free food and plant-based menus. The passion, knowledge, and innovation of the team are truly inspiring. Keele is leading by example, delivering a positive environmental impact in a way that today’s customers genuinely value”.
These successes are the latest in a series of prestigious accolades won by the team, who also won Gold in the Business Events Venue of the Year category at this year’s Visit England Awards.
