Musculoskeletal health
Keele’s world-leading research into musculoskeletal health has an extensive range and includes the major research areas of osteoarthritis, musculoskeletal pain, inflammatory arthritis and osteoporosis. Research teams are multidisciplinary, and incorporate a wide array of different methods, from qualitative research to analysis of electronic medical records, and laboratory science to randomised controlled trials.
Research Centre Lead: Professor Kate Dunn
Research Centre Deputies: Dr Martin Thomas, Dr Vicki Welsh, Dr Benjamin Saunders
"Our mission is to design, produce and implement world-leading interdisciplinary research & evidence, which improves the prevention, identification, diagnosis & management (self-management, treatments & models of care) of musculoskeletal health. The Centre has over 100 members, all actively engaged in research into musculoskeletal health. Members range from influential, internationally recognised, research leaders to PhD students and early career researchers."
We aim to deliver excellent quality research studies with highly impactful findings which improve the health and care of people who have or are at risk of, musculoskeletal health conditions. We strive to conduct our research within a supportive environment, developing careers, and producing innovative interdisciplinary research.
Our musculoskeletal health research priorities include:
- Population health, work and prevention
- Optimising healthcare for people with musculoskeletal health conditions
