"Marvellous" - BBC2
The marvellous tale of how a boy "with difficulties" became a man who never acknowledged any obstacle to doing whatever he wanted.
The new TV drama “Marvellous” will be screened at 9pm on BBC 2 on Thursday, 25th September.
You may already have seen some trailers for it. There is extensive coverage in the Radio Times for next week, including a 4-page feature article about Neil Baldwin; it is also “pick of the day”; the editorial and "drama of the week". There is also an article in TV Times which gives it 5 stars. Below is a link to the BBC website about its making, with interviews with the Director, Julian Farino, and Gemma Jones. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/article ... experience and saying more about the movie and the Keele connection.
A lot of it was filmed at the University during the summer of 2014: in the Chapel, the students' union, the sports centre and sports field, and Keele Hall - as well as Whitmore Church and Keele services. These locations are in some cases masquerading as somewhere else but Keele people will know! Current students played roles as extras and others gained fabulous work experience with the production team. Very funny and heart-warming but also real pathos - a true-life / fanatastical story of Keele honorary graduate and local hero Neil Baldwin.
