THE Student Experience Survey top 10
Keele University has moved into the top 10 in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey this year for the first time, moving up 11 places from 2015.
The University was placed 3rd in the country for campus environment; 4th for good community atmosphere and 5th for helpful/interested staff, while the library was also rated as one of the best in the country. Keele is rated highly by students in all aspects covered by the THE poll, and it performs strongly on its degree courses, the good extracurricular activities and societies, good library opening times and Students' Union.
Professor Fiona Cownie, Pro Vice Chancellor (Education and Student Experience), said:
"We are proud that at Keele we offer students the highest quality student experience, taking a broad-based view of their education. This includes both their academic curriculum, delivering research-led teaching, and the opportunity to develop skills which will enable them to contribute effectively to the wider community for the rest of their lives, through work and as active members of civil society.
"We can only achieve this through the continuing effort of all our staff, both support staff and academic staff, who consistently ‘go the extra mile’ for our students."
This year’s Student Experience Survey was based on responses from over 15,000 full-time undergraduate students across the UK – THE's largest survey to date. Students rated their institutions in 21 categories that matter most to them, from the quality of staff and lectures to social life, accommodation and facilities.
John Gill, editor of Times Higher Education, comments:
“Increasing competition between universities and an intense focus on the student experience are still top of the agenda for the higher education sector. Our survey is perfectly placed to track what this means in practice, and which universities are performing well in specific areas – whether in teaching and learning, or areas such as the standard of facilities, in which many institutions have been investing heavily.”
