Out of this world event with Foden's Band

On Wednesday 1 November ArtsKeele and Keele University Astrophysics teamed up with Foden's Band to present an out of this world concert. All seven movements of of Holst's The Planets Suite were performed to an audience of over 250 inside Keele University Chapel, accompanied by a short talk by Dr John Taylor (Keele Astrophysics) and the most breathtaking Hubble Space Telescope images for each of the planets. Following the concert guests were invited to visit Keele Observatory to view planets and other spectacular night-sky objects using the Observatory's historic Grubb refractor. Over 80 members of the audience visited the Observatory and had the chance to see the moon at it's most full and spectacular!
Keele University plays host to a series of evening concerts taking place on Wednesday evenings during Autumn and Winter.
