We are delighted to be welcoming Casey Bailey to Keele Hall Readings on Monday 21st October 2024.

Casey is the former Birmingham poet laureate (2020-22), a performance poet, playwright, activist, community practitioner, and all unified in his deep commitment to tackling inequality and access to the arts for young people. His poetry has appeared in numerous anthologies with his latest collection ‘Please Do Not Touch’ reflecting is hometown landscape – “soak our hands into its soil so we too feel it’s warmth, it’s grit, the seeds that may still germinate one day” (Caleb Femi).

His play GrimeBoy premiered at the Birmingham Rep. GrimeBoy tells the story of an inner-city teenager who is desperate to be the greatest grime mc, with one eye on the impact on environment and one on his aspirations.
