Keele students hold fundraising drive to help local people in need
Keele students have donated their time and raised money to help the most vulnerable people in the local area by donating care packages to the needy this Christmas.
Local charities Open Door Stoke-on-Trent, The Macari Centre and ASHA were the beneficiaries of the fundraising drive by the Keele Rotaract, Kashmiri, BAME, and Islamic Societies, which saw students raise money to provide packages of toiletries, clothes and food to those in need.
The students also wrote personal notes of encouragement which were delivered by hand to the most needy.
This latest fundraising drive is just one charitable activity by our students, with Keele students having given 30,000 volunteering hours to good causes and local projects over the past academic year.
Speaking to the Stoke Sentinel, Keele Rotaract Society President Mellissa Ssanyu said: “Open Door very much appreciated the students visiting the drop-in breakfasts. It meant a lot to us.”
