Keele Observatory will be marking the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by throwing open its doors to visitors to explore all things science on Monday 11 February.

The event welcomes families and primary and secondary school children to find out more about the Keele Observatory and meet some of the University’s scientists.

There is plenty to see, do and be inspired by as visitors will be able to peer deep into the cells of a brain through a microscope and hold rocks that have plummeted from the sky or been spat out by a volcano, and watch the stars through the giant telescope.

Dr Jacco van Loon, from the Keele Observatory, said: "Science is cool, and for everyone. Anyone can be a scientist, or just enjoy science, and this is what we want everyone to experience. Visitors will explore some fascinating stuff, and meet friendly and inspiring biologists, geologists, astronomers and students.”
