Keele pledges to support national BAME student attainment report
Keele University has pledged its support to a joint report by the National Union of Students and Universities UK which aims to eliminate the black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) student degree attainment gap.
The report, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Student Attainment at UK Universities: #ClosingtheGap, has identified that there is currently a 13% gap between the likelihood of white students and students from BAME backgrounds getting a 1st or a 2:1 degree classification, and looks at how we can further accelerate progress in eliminating the attainment gap.
The recommendations to help achieve this include providing strong leadership; having racially diverse and changing cultures; developing racially diverse and inclusive environments; getting the evidence and analysing the data on the attainment gap and understanding what works.
