Keele student wins prestigious Diana Award
Elliott Lancaster, a PhD student at Keele University, has this week received a prestigious Diana Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to society.
The Diana Award is given annually to those who inspire positive change in the lives of young people, which reflects the personal interests of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Elliott supports a number of charities both locally and nationally, including his work as a volunteer and Trustee of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, I Have a Voice CIC, Spirit of Peace, and the Wolfpack Project, a charity dedicated to reducing loneliness and social isolation amongst young adults.
Elliott’s nominator, said: “Elliott’s integrity, entrepreneurial mindset, discipline, and ability to get things done is exemplary. He is a role model both as a student and as a young entrepreneur, excelling academically while simultaneously proving his acumen as a social entrepreneur and voluntary ambassador for various organisations.”
The nomination also referred to Elliott’s encouragement of other young people to engage in meaningful and sustainable change.
In response to receiving the award, Elliott said: “I feel incredibly honoured to be a recipient of such a prestigious award. It is humbling to be recognised for my continued community work. I look forward to using this platform to support other young people.”
Professor Paul Dewick, Elliott’s PhD supervisor, said: “The Diana Award recognises Elliott’s contribution beyond his doctoral studies at Keele. It is testament to his commitment to an equitable, inclusive and sustainable society.”
Elliott was also named as the Newcastle-under-Lyme ‘Trustee of the Year’ at the Support Staffordshire Volunteer Star Awards 2021 in June.
