Keele partners with world-renowned entrepreneur to establish new master's degree
Students and researchers at Keele Business School will benefit from a new partnership with a world-renowned entrepreneur and thought leader specialising in the “purpose economy”.
In collaboration with Linzi Boyd, founder of the One Earth Global platform and an internationally recognised leader in the field of the purpose-driven economy, the School has established a new MSc in Entrepreneurship to help inspire and develop the next generation of ethical entrepreneurs.
The “purpose economy” refers to the idea that businesses should not solely be driven by profit, but that their values and beliefs – and those of their employees – should be intrinsically linked to their success.
This model of economics aims to bring about societal change aligned to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, by encouraging businesses to think differently about business, industry, society and the world.
Ms Boyd met the Director of Keele Business School, Dr Scott Bambrick, when she was the keynote speaker at a British Chamber of Commerce Global Summit alongside the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Governor of the Bank of England.
Her expertise in ethical entrepreneurship and purpose-led economics aligned with Keele’s own sustainability ambitions, and a partnership was formed which has led to the new MSc being established.
Dr Scott Bambrick, Director of Keele Business School, said: “KBS are delighted to partner with Linzi Boyd and ‘One Earth Global’. This partnership offers our students a unique opportunity to both engage with an expert on the purpose economy, as well as utilise the ‘One Earth Global’ platform to gain experience of collaborating within an international purpose economy network of businesses.
“Having industry experts such as Linzi collaborate with us in developing programmes is key to ensuring that what we deliver is linked with current practice and ensures our graduates better understand the environment they will enter on completion of their studies. Linzi will also be working closely with academic staff in undertaking research into the purpose economy, as well as guest lecturing on our new MSc Entrepreneurship programme.”
Linzi Boyd (pictured) added: “I am really proud to be partnering with Keele Business School, so that we can turn the One Earth business program certified in the purpose-driven economy into a master’s degree. This really pioneers a new era of business where purpose-led entrepreneurship is now being adopted by our future leaders of the next generation, to enable us to shift the world, by building businesses and industries to impact change in the world. This creates the new face of modern business.”
