Family-friendly Keele

We're proud to be a family-friendly university that supports staff and students with parenting and caring responsibilities.

Work-life balance

The University recognises the demands of family life and has a range of benefits and policies in place to help colleagues to achieve a balance between work and home, including:

Outstanding childcare provision

Our Day Nursery is rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and offers daycare for the children of staff, students and local families.

The University operates a salary sacrifice scheme for staff using the Day Nursery provision.

Our purpose built, state of the art facilities are set within their own secure grounds on the beautiful Keele campus and offer a rich and stimulating learning environment in which children are safe, happy and cared for.

Family-friendly policies

We are committed to supporting our employees through a variety of family-friendly policies.

In many of our policies, we offer generous entitlements that go beyond the statutory minimum for those that are eligible, including enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave, as well as flexible working and emergency childcare support.

Accessible buildings and campus

Keele campus has many accessible features, such as ramps and lifts in our buildings, to help facilitate parents with young children in buggies and people with disabilities.

The campus also has a dedicated family friendly parking area, which is available after 9.15am for permit holders who have family or caring commitments.

A comprehensive range of bus services are available from campus, both to the local area and to destinations across the UK. Bus stops are available throughout campus.
