Council Tax
Council tax is a tax on residential property and rules for students are as follows:
• Full-time students living on campus will not have to pay Council Tax.
• Full-time students living off campus will not have to pay Council Tax.
• The University notifies Newcastle Borough Council, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Cheshire East County Council during the first week in October that you are a full-time student.
• You must have enrolled or re-registered with the University for the academic year.
• This confirms to the Council that you are a full-time student.
• For the Councils listed above you won’t need to provide any further proof of your student status.
• You can obtain a student status letter from Evision to provide to your council.
• You can find the Student Status Letter function on your homepage of Evision - the button is located at the bottom of the screen.
• You can save the letter and then forward it if required. If printing the letter you should print this in colour.
• If you are not a full-time student, Advice and Support at Keele (ASK) can give you further information about Council Tax.
