Biography

I obtained my BSc (Hons, First class) in Physiology at the University of Liverpool in 2000, followed by my PhD in neonatal immunology in 2004. Following completion of my PhD I spent two years working in industry in the fields of regulatory and developmental toxicology before taking up the post of Lecturer in physiology at the newly formed Undergraduate School of Pharmacy at the University of Keele in 2006. I have a keen interest in equality, diversity and inclusivity in Higher Education and in accessibility of education for all.

My research interests lie in the development of the immune system, autoimmunity and immunotherapies, and more recently I have developed my interests in pedagogical research looking at how individuals learn and how technology and innovative teaching methods can improve the accessibility of education and the efficiency of teaching.

With a background in physiology, I have worked previously in industry in the fields of regulatory and developmental toxicology. I have a keen interest in equality, diversity and inclusivity in Higher Education and in accessibility of education for all.

I teach a range of subjects on the MPharm program including physiology, anatomy, genetics and microbiology and offer an option topic on autoimmune diseases. I am the module leader for the Introduction to pharmaceutical science 1 and 2 modules on the BSc in pharmaceutical science, technology and business course.
