Biography
Read Physiotherapy at the University of Liverpool. After qualifying took first post at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen NHS Trust, completing Band 5 rotations. A post was then taken at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust, now University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust, initially as Rotational Band 6 Physiotherapist, and followed by a Static Medical Band 6 and then Advanced Physiotherapist Post, which was held for 13years. The role involved Trust wide training in Oxygen therapy, Tracheostomy Care, Suction and Airway Management, as well as teaching on the AIMS and Surviving Sepsis courses and being ILS trained. The role also involved being the AHP/PT representative on the Patient Safety Group, the Medical Gas Committee, the Tracheostomy Group and Long Term conditions group, as well as being involved in the development of an NIV Unit and prehabilitation proposals for colorectal and breast care surgery. A passion for teaching lead to an interest in a Lecturer/Practitioner secondment with the SAHP at Keele University, which has resulted in a successful application to join the school on a permanent basis.
Research and scholarship
Nil to date but this is an aspiration within the post and to support the development of the school and innovative and progressive nature of the syllabus.
Teaching
Vast experience of teaching within the NHS, to a number of professions across a number of subject matters.

Supervision
Significant experience supervising staff across all levels including apprentices through to static band 6 staff and including Therapy and Nursing staff.
This includes:
- Clinical supervision
- Annual professional and development reviews
- Return to work and sickness management meeting
- Manual handing risk assessment and OHSS referrals
- Conduct, capability and performance management action plans and supervision meetings.
