Biography

I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2003 and started my career at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as a Rotational Junior Physiotherapist, gaining valuable experience in the core areas of Physiotherapy. During these years I developed a keen interest in Respiratory Physiotherapy and consequently secured a static Band 6 post at Stafford General Hospital where I worked on the surgical, elderly and Intensive care wards.

A change in circumstances led to a change in specialism and a year out to complete an MSc in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2006 made me a Specialist MSK Physiotherapist instead! I have worked as an MSK Specialist Physiotherapist in NHS Outpatients, Private Practice and in Hydro and Sports rehabilitation at the Madejski football club in Reading over the years but my passion for knowledge and teaching led me here.

I have always valued having students through my career not only to teach them but to teach me. I love the penny drop moments. My role in the School of Allied Health Professions is not only to teach but also to develop and run a Student-Led Physiotherapy Clinic in the University. As a service for our staff, friends and students but also to serve the general public outside of campus. Importantly though, this Clinic will provide in-valuable 'hands on' 'real' Physiotherapy experience for our students to help them learn and flourish in this ever-changing profession!
