Professor Katie Maddock, Head of the School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering

Welcome to the School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering. We are a long-established School with a rich history of pharmacy post-graduate education leading to the development of our MPharm course which began in 2006. Since then, we have developed new undergraduate programmes in Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science, and Bioengineering (Regenerative Medicine). We also offer a range of postgraduate programmes including Clinical Pharmacy Practice, Cell and Tissue Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Medical Engineering Design.

We are a School that works on the cutting edge in both education and research. In education, we are national leaders in the use of blended learning (a mixture of online resources and fully interactive face-to-face sessions). We embrace technology in our teaching including the use of voting tools, 3-D simulation, and virtual and simulated patients. Our clinical placement programme for undergraduate pharmacy students is extensive with up to 30 weeks of placement across the four years of the MPharm programme. School staff and PhD students undertake a wide range of research in fields such as cells and nanotechnology, through to medical engineering and clinical practice; all exciting, innovative and topical areas which you may also study and interrogate on your chosen course. Our staff are friendly and approachable, and all are subject experts in their fields.

I look forward to welcoming you to Keele!
