Prunus serrula 'Branklyn'

A medium to large tree, to 8m high and 4m wide becoming vase-shaped with age. The small, single, white flowers appear with the leaves. The bark is glossy and peels into fine papery strips.

Prunus serrula is native to north-west China and is commonly known as the Birch-bark Cherry. This cultivar was propagated from a tree in Branklyn Garden in Perth.
