23rd December : a Crossbill flew over campus JAL.
15th December : Winter Moths below security lights at a number of sites around campus and 4 species in the moth trap - Chestnut, Mottled Umber, Red-green Carpet, Grey Shoulder-knot DWE.
October 13th : a Brambling was calling by Keele Hall DWE.
October 12th : 6 Redwings over the Walled Garden DWE.
September 29th : Hummingbird Hawk-moth by the Walled Garden DWE.
September 24th : 10 Red Admirals and a Small Tortoiseshell on Budlleia outside the Library DWE.
September 23rd : 5 Buzzards circled over the Walled Garden DWE.
September 10th : 7 Red Admirals, Painted Lady, Small Tortoiseshell and a Peacock on Buddleia by the Library DWE.
August 28th : Chiffchaff in song in the Walled Garden; Raven calling overhead DWE.
August 27th : Common Blue butterfly on Phase 3 Jane Shaw.
August 5th : 2 Ravens flew over the Walled Garden DWE.
August 3rd : Emperor Dragonfly flying over pond 1 on the Phase 3 site DWE.
July 22nd : 15 Mistle Thrushes with 100 Black-headed Gulls feeding on Sports Field by Barnes Hall DWE.
June 29th : Ringlet butterfly seen by the Observatory DWE.
June 16th : a Red Kite was seen over fields off Highway Lane in Keele village Katherine Haxton.
June 15th : Large Red, Azure and Blue-tailed Damselflies on Phase 3 DWE.
June 10th : a new moth for Keele in the trap - White-pinion Spotted DWE. 2 Brimstone butterflies and a Yellow Wagtail along Lymes Road DWE, JAL.
June 4th : a male Brimstone butterfly by the KPA building DWE.
May 27th : 2 pairs of Canada Geese with young now on Lake 1; Mallard with 7 ducklings on Lake 2 DWE.
May 20th : 4 Yellow Wagtails, Lesser Whitethroat and Tawny Owl along Lymes Road NDP.
May 7th : 2 Swifts over Union Square DWE.
May 3rd : House Martins over the Walled Garden DWE.
April 22nd : Whitethroat in Lower Clock House Drive DWE, JAL.
April 17th : a Little Egret was seen flying over Larchwood - a first for Keele G. Hazleton.
April 13th : Blackcap singing in the Walled Garden, first Swallows over Phase 3; 3 Linnets by Home Farm and Green Woodpecker heard in Stacy Plantation DWE, JAL.
March 20th : first Chiffchaff of the year behind the Walled Garden DWE.
March 12th : Coltsfoot in flower on Phase 3 DWE.
March 9th : A Reed Bunting by International Study Centre at the Hawthorns David Gould.
March 6th : Peacock - first butterfly of the year NDP.
March 5th : flock of 100 Redwings and Starlings feeding by the running track. Skylark singing just over the boundary wall and flock of 20 Lapwings near Keele Cemetery DWE.
February 3rd : 3 Meadow Pipits and 4 Song Thrushes on Phase 3 DWE, JAL.
January 29th : snowed! Saw a Hare running over the field below Keele Hall DWE.
January 23rd : Flock of c20 Redwings are feeding beneath the trees by the Chancellor's Building car-park DWE.
January 22nd : 260 Golden Plovers were in a field to the side of Keele Cemetery at lunchtime NDP.
