Digital solution improves real time shift cover
Keele has supported an established professional cleaning company to develop a solution for its staffing rota issues.
RCB Business Solutions cover all aspects of cleaning in the Educational, Industrial and Commercial sector, providing a managed hygiene service. Staff selection is integral to the company’s success, with each team member trained in the essential aspects of the COSHH Health and Safety Regulations.
The company approached Keele for support in creating an improved ‘real time’ solution to help backfill shifts, and were looking to streamline existing communication systems into one platform, along with adding a geo-locator function.
The team at Keele Gateway worked with RCB to go through their requirements, which resulted in the development of a new piece of software through which employees can communicate directly to organise shift cover. The app has been introduced and successfully adopted into the business.
The following support programmes available within the Keele Gateway are receiving funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (as part of the England 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme):
- Keele University Science & Innovation Park Smart Innovation Hub (Ref: 32R17P01691);
- Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (Ref: 32R16P00706);
- Business Bridge (Ref: 32R18P02530);
- Innovation Centre Seven - IC7 (Ref: 32R19P03785).
Additionally, Innovation Centre 7 and its associated programmes are part-funded through a suite of funders including the Research England Development Fund and UK Government funding through the Getting Building Fund.
