Calling all innovators!

This session features guest speaker Andrew Peaty from the Defence and Security Agency (DASA) with an update on the latest innovation competitions.

The Defence and Security Accelerator is part of the Ministry of Defence. Their role is to find and fund exploitable innovation to support UK defence and security quickly and effectively, but they also have a secondary aim to support UK prosperity. The two main ways they assist innovators is to provide money for competed proposals to progress interesting ideas. They can also provide general advice and have a mentoring service which is mainly for innovators that have projects with them, but sometimes stretches to assisting people who have missed out on DASA funding.

• Yearly funding budget is about £55m;
• Typically provide 100% funding for the proposals - no matched funding usually required;
• Don't take equity;
• Intellectual property remains with the innovator;
• Always open for ideas.
