Keele Internships provides skills and experience for graduate success
Recent Keele University psychology graduate, Naomi Muller-Jones, has benefited from two Keele Internships schemes. Upon graduating, the skills gained from her degree and employment secured her current position as Marketing Manager at Weldfast MWA.
Keele Internships offers a wide range of opportunities to students and recent graduates in a variety of industries. Naomi commented on the Keele Internships scheme with Santander Universities: “I didn’t know what to expect when applying for an internship, but the process was very streamlined; from applying to interviews to starting the job with guidance along the way if you needed it. It helped build my confidence that I was the right person for the role and the work fitted around my student life.”
“It has been an invaluable experience. I would recommend all students and graduates to do it, as you can never be sure where it might lead. Before I knew it I was in paid work, learning new skills, gaining confidence and building my CV that has led to great career opportunities.”
Weldfast MWA are a family-run business established in 2007, and are now a leading wholesaler and manufacturer serving the ever-demanding welding industry.
Naomi continued: “We are delighted to be working closely with Keele as the company continues to build its community and partnerships. We are looking into the Keele Research and Innovation Support Programme (KRISP)* for developing our new products and market research. I want to give something back, it would be really special for me to give students the opportunities that I had. Growing up my mother, who is also a Keele alumna, would always praise Keele for being special and community-driven. Since attending myself, and gaining my dream job as a direct result, I can definitely agree.”
Santander Universities funding with Keele Internships provides both businesses and students with cost effective academic and business support for growth. For information on the opportunities available through the Keele-Santander programme please visit www.keele.ac.uk/internships.
