Marriott to open new Courtyard hotel at Keele in February
Building work for The Courtyard by Marriott hotel on Keele’s campus is complete, and the hotel will open in February this year.
Set to create 40 jobs, the 150-bedroom hotel will provide accommodation for visitors to Staffordshire as well as to support the growing conference and events business on Keele’s Science and Innovation Park.
The investment and building costs have been met entirely by the developer and its funder, Legal and General, and the University will benefit from a profit share arrangement.
The hotel boasts the Scholars Restaurant and Bar along with a coffee shop serving Starbucks coffee, as well as two meeting rooms for up to 30 people and a fitness suite. 180 new parking spaces have also been created to accommodate guests.
Scott Randall, General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott, said: “As we edge closer to the opening date of The Courtyard by Marriott, our teams prepare to welcome visitors to Staffordshire who are looking for high quality accommodation, situated in the beautiful, picturesque setting on Keele University’s campus.
“We envisage that our guests to the hotel will be a mix of people visiting Staffordshire from outside of the area for leisure or business activities, guests visiting the University to meet with companies based on the Science and Innovation Park at Keele, and families visiting Keele students.”
The hotel is located near to the main entrance of campus on the Keele University Science and Innovation Park, and will provide much needed accommodation for visiting parents, conference delegates, Keele Hall wedding guests, guests of our Science and Innovation Park tenants, and visitors to our graduation and open days.
