Information for graduates and students
Are you a graduate with an interest in smart energy systems? Do you want to gain work experience and make a significant contribution to the challenges of Smart Energy for the future? If so, the SEND project needs you!
A key element of SEND is a collaborative RD&I product development programme focussing on industry-led university research. The programme will include 25 three-month projects where graduate researchers work with Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire-based small or medium-size enterprises (SMEs) on a range of RD&I projects linked to the smart energy and low carbon agenda.
We are currently actively recruiting graduate researchers for the 25 three-month projects. To help kick-start their careers in private sector RD&I, graduate researchers may choose to undertake a three-month project as part of their study for an MSc at Keele University. This will enable them to complete their MSc while working full-time on the collaboration with the eligible business for three months.
We are now looking to recruit ambitious graduates interested in being involved in this exciting new initiative. You will be working as part of a new cohort of exceptional researchers in a unique partnership between academia and business. You will be working with a business undertaking research and development on a specific research project to underpin the development of a new product or service. As an example of the kind of projects that will be available, projects are ongoing that are investigating the most environmentally friendly and commercially viable approach to Li-ion batteries for tools, an examination of the energy produced from solar tiles in a home and suitable storage methods, and a computing project to set-up a SCADA system for a small smart energy demonstrator.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- Opportunity to undertake a collaborative project with a business based in the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire area.
- Support to help you develop a long-term well-paid and rewarding career.
- Opportunity to gain a postgraduate qualification from a world-leading university.
