Keele CAEP represented at the 6th MIM Pan-African Malaria Conference
Dr Frederic Tripet was recently invited to speak at the 6th MIM Pan-African Malaria Conference "Moving towards malaria elimination: Investing in research and control" held in Durban, South Africa.
Dr Tripet, Reader in Molecular Biology of Insect Vectors of Diseases, conducts his research within Keele's Centre for Applied Entomology and Parasitology (CAEP), combining studies in molecular ecology, ecological genomics, population genetics and insect behaviour to generate results of broad ecological importance.
At MIM, he presented his work on the genetic determinants of mating behaviour in the malaria-transmitting mosquito Anopheles gambiae. The presentation was part of a symposium focusing on Mosquito Mating Biology and discussing prospects for vector-control measures targeting key stages of the mosquito mating process.
