Gentrification and community-led design talk
The research discusses the nature of Community-led Design initiatives in urban settings, how they operate in the landscape of political policy and their effects on socio-spatial issues such as gentrification.
Through the methodology of cultural animation, it aims to explore and evaluate the ability of community-led design initiatives to facilitate the building of a public’s capacity to tackle social/spatial issues associated with their built environment and services.
It aims in turn to contribute to the development of design research methods through this exploration with cultural animation, and also help co-create design solutions with communities to develop their capacity to respond to the negative aspects of gentrification.
