Description for 2021/22

This second year module focuses on mental health and wellbeing across the lifespan and the impact on society. You will also learn about factors which promote positive mental health and wellness. This knowledge would be useful in any future employment setting supporting people¿s health and wellbeing.

Aims
This module enables the student to understand the concept of mental and emotional health and wellbeing across the lifespan and in contemporary society and its potential impact on individuals, families and communities. It will enable students to analyse the political, economic and social factors affecting mental health and wellbeing.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Discuss the concept of mental health and wellbeing in relation to contemporary society and public health: 1
Discuss how mental health and wellbeing develops across the lifespan and examine factors which may impact on this: 1
Evaluate factors which promote positive mental health and wellbeing at an individual and public health level: 1
