Aims
To:-introduce the concept of using evidence to support best practice, demonstrate the need for critical reading, thinking and writing,develop the students' knowledge and understanding of research principles,enable students to effectively compare and evaluate findings from health related research.
Intended Learning Outcomes

30 tutor led hours which may include lectures, workshops, seminars, tutorials and two hours of assessment preparation classes etc.120 hours of independent study including 20 hours of guided independent study.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Computer Task weighted 30%Computer based task of 40 minutes durationThe student's knowledge and skill in retrieving research evidence from an electronic database to inform a specific clinical or applied question will be explored.
2: Report weighted 70%1500 word written reportTwo abstracts will be produced from simulated full text articles. The information will be compared and critically evaluated.
