CSC-20041 Software Engineering ORCSC-20022 System Lifecycles and Design.
Software engineering is not simply a matter of technical expertise in requirements, specification, design, implementation and maintenance (as taught in prerequisite modules). The process and practice of software engineering requires leadership and management. This module reviews standard practices in project management, and uses these to explore how people and cultures relate to successful project management and leadership. The module covers conventional software engineering project management, adding reflections on state-of-the-art industrial software engineering management from organisations such as google. Students are expected to apply concepts, ideas and reading to management scenarios in workshops and the assignment.
Aims
To provide an understanding of the principles of project management, and specifically the scope of, and problems and techniques associated with, software engineering project management.
Intended Learning Outcomes
