Description for 2022/23

The module extends the theme of information systems and databases to look at advanced decision support systems. The portfolio-style module is based on a series of specific case studies, with staff contributing their own expertise in aspects of design and evaluation of decision support systems as well as issues of security and usability.

Aims
To provide an understanding of the use of advanced information systems for decision support and to provide an understanding of the issues involved in the design, planning and management of advanced information systems.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Report weighted 100%
Coursework
Assessed by a written report (1,500 words + tables and figures) that analyses an advanced information systems case study. Students will be expected to evaluate issues such as usability, risk, security and quality related to the scenario given and consider appropriate methods for decision support and overall design of an advanced information system.
