This is the third module of four leading to the Trinity College (London) Certificate in TESOL. In this module, the focus shifts from the theory of language teaching and learning to practical experience. You will have the opportunity to profile one learner in order to gain a clearer understanding of the types of problems learners may have when learning English, and how the student can help them overcome those problems. In the classroom we look at how to design language tests and teaching English for specific purposes. Further teaching practice is provided at a local charity. You may also wish to volunteer to teach in Poland or in Belgium.
Aims
To continue the development of students' knowledge of the main phonological, lexical and syntactic features of contemporary spoken and written English.To further develop the methodological knowledge necessary to carry out successful classroom teaching including designing tests, providing feedback on written or oral texts and introducing the concept of English for Specific PurposesTo further develop skills in teaching practice and classroom management including observing experienced teachersTo enable students to assess the needs of an individual learner and plan a one-to-one lesson based on these needs

Successful completion of Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language 2 with a mark of 56% or more.
Description of Module Assessment
1: Practical Assessment weighted 40%Teaching PracticeThe trainee teachers will teach two one-hour lessons to a group of non-native English speaking learners.
2: Coursework weighted 20%Language Awareness exercisesTwo 250 word assessments analysing theoretical, grammatical and phonological input covered in the syllabus.
3: Portfolio weighted 40%Complete a Learner ProfileStudents carry out an analysis of the needs of a learner through an interview, a test of the learner's speaking, writing, reading and listening and then plan and teach a 1:1 lesson based on their analysis.
