Description for 2022/23

This course is designed for students with limited prior knowledge of Italian (e.g. Italian 1, OR one year Italian at school several years ago) and will develop basic communication skills in Italian in everyday situations such as introducing oneself, talking about daily routines and about the living environment. Alongside the Italian language, students will acquire an insight into Italian culture e.g. learn about a variety of Italian traditions and customs and culture specific behaviour. As the focus of this module is on communication skills, a large proportion of the course will be based on oral and aural work listening to sound files and video material, and speaking in groups and in pairs in a variety of question-and-answer and role play exercises. Participants will also develop and practise reading and writing in Italian.

Upon successful completion of this module, students will normally have reached level A1 of the Common European Language Framework (CEFR - A1)
