This module gives students the unique opportunity to produce a substantial piece of written work. Students can select a topic of particular interest in consultation with the module tutor. The tutor ensures that the appropriate supervision is available to support the topic. Students work independently with a dissertation supervisor and also in small groups and seminars. Students study research skills appropriate for this level of study. They also work consistently throughout the year to meet a number of internal deadlines for titles, chapter plans and draft chapters. They submit a draft chapter to the supervisor in order to gain valuable feedback on their project and their progress.
Aims
To enable students to engage in an area of research on a topic of their choice and pertinent to their discipline;To facilitate student engagement on an extended piece of writing under supervision.
