Description for 2022/23

This module will enable students to develop awareness of a range of health and social factors which promote or adversely affect the health and well-being of children and young people. Students will become familiar with the resources available and required to optimise children and young people's health and well-being. This knowledge will underpin the student's own knowledge and practice contributing to improving the health and well-being of all children and young people.

Aims
This module aims to provide students with opportunities to consider physical, social and emotional aspects of children's and young people's health, well-being and development, explore factors which affect these and, raise awareness of evidence-based practices that contribute to optimising children's and young people's well-being.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Description of Module Assessment

1: Essay weighted 70%
An essay which focuses on promoting children's and / or young people's health and well-being
The student will provide an in-depth account of normal children's and / or young people's health and development analysing a range of psycho-social and cultural influences which impact on their health, physical and emotional well-being and development (3000 words).

2: Presentation weighted 30%
Presentation relating to children's and / or young people's health and well-being
A 20-minute presentation (including 5 minutes for questions) with a focus on an aspect of children's and / or young people's health and well-being.
