Description for 2022/23

This module will equip you with a firm grounding in the person-centred counselling perspective, including an exploration of Rogers¿ model of personality, and model of therapeutic change. Your learning will be underpinned by a combination of traditional lecture-style classes and discussion-focused seminars, alongside independent study, and you will be encouraged to study both classic texts and current research within the field. The foundational knowledge achieved during this module will then prepare you to develop a more applied approach in subsequent modules within the BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling programme.

Aims
This module builds upon PSY-10021, Understanding Self and Others, and provides students with a solid foundation in person-centred counselling theory, which will underpin the counselling content of the BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling programme for the remainder of Levels 5 and 6.
