This module forms part of the MSci 4 year Physiotherapy programme at Keele which is an innovative programme of study which prepares the graduate for clinical practice in changing health and social care settings.Practice Experience 2a builds on previous Practice Experience from Practice experience 1 and the content covered earlier in the MSci Physiotherapy programme and enables the student through physiotherapy practice experience to further develop and apply knowledge and skills. The module aims to prepare the student to work in diverse healthcare settings whilst also develop transferable skills (i.e. multidisciplinary team working, leadership and advance communication) that can be applied in a variety of healthcare settings and specialities."
Aims
1. To enable the student to develop and reflect upon their personal and professional behaviour and modify appropriately in light of their learning. 2. With the support of practice educators, the student will develop physiotherapy knowledge and skills in a relevant external setting to include exposure to observing, analysing and implementing both effective assessment strategies and evidenced based physiotherapy interventions
Intended Learning Outcomes
reflect upon the factors that inform and affect interactions with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team and modify behaviour to meet individual patient needs;: 1classify verbal and written information and prioritise it appropriately in terms of its relation to patient management and record keeping;: 1plan and implement safe and effective assessment and interventions from an agreed problem list with practice educator;: 1differentiate between common diagnoses and the effectiveness of different physiotherapy interventions using simple clinical reasoning skills.: 1Appraise own strengths and areas for development and choose the appropriate individuals from whom to seek help;: 1identify and implement the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy's Code of Professional Values and Behaviour and the Health and Care Professions Council Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students within this practice experience.: 1
