The Evidence Based Health and Rehabilitation module builds on content introduced in Year 1 of the MSci Physiotherapy and BSc Hons Rehabilitation and Exercise Science programmes and enables the student to extract key information and begin to discuss literature relevant to practice.Students will have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills required to assess quality of research methodology both qualitative and quantitative and understand common statistical terminology used for evidence based research.The module aims to prepare the student to integrate research into clinical practice whilst also developing transferable skills (such as academic writing, presentation of an argument) that can be applied in a variety of healthcare settings and specialities.
Aims
To:-introduce the concept of using evidence to support best practice, demonstrate the need for critical reading, thinking and writing,develop the students'; knowledge and understanding of research principles,enable students to effectively describe, compare and evaluate findings from health and rehabilitation related research.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Online Tasks weighted 30%Online task of 40 minutes durationThe student's knowledge and skill in formulating a clinical or applied question to assist in, and then completing the retrieval of, research evidence from an electronic database will be assessed.
2: Report weighted 70%1500 word written reportStudents will summarise two full text articles related to health and rehabilitation and compare the methods of the two articles
