Description for 2022/23


Aims
To build on underpinning theory, knowledge and skills to enable the student to begin to clinically reason and manage patients effectively with common cardiovascular and respiratory conditions.

Intended Learning Outcomes

utilise underpinning knowledge to explain the pathophysiology and clinical features of common cardiovascular and respiratory conditions

demonstrate safe and effective generic and physiotherapeutic assessment, treatment and handling skills for cardiovascular and respiratory patients

select and apply appropriate physiotherapeutic intervention and management based on analysis of assessment findings

discuss the therapeutic effects of physiotherapy interventions using appropriate clinical reasoning

81 tutor led hours (to include 6 hours of associated practice experience) may also include lectures, workshops, tutorials etc. and assessment preparation.

Description of Module Assessment

1: Seen Exam weighted 100%
Thirty minute oral examination
Thirty minute oral examination based on formative development of case scenarios within the module. The examination will include an interactive practical demonstration of an element/s of the assessment/treatment strategy already discussed in the oral component.
