The Enhanced Practice: Cardiovascular and Respiratory module builds on content introduced in Years 1, 2 and 3 of the MSci Physiotherapy programme and enables the student to enhance their knowledge and skills in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating cardio-respiratory physiotherapy in the acutely deteriorating patient and in the critical care setting. The module develops the student clinical reasoning and clinical decision making skills.
Aims
To enhance the student's knowledge and skills in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating effective care to acutely deteriorating patients.To extend the student's knowledge and skills in assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating cardio-respiratory physiotherapy, including rehabilitation, in the critical care setting.
Intended Learning Outcomes

40 tutor-led hours which include: 12 hours lectures, 26 hours workshops, seminars, tutorials, practicals and 2 hours of assessment preparation insitu110 hours of independent study formed of: 20 hours of guided independent study;10 hours of assessment guided study;80 hours of student determined independent study
Description of Module Assessment
1: Oral Exam weighted 100%A 30 minute oral examinationA 30-minute oral examination based on a case study. Prior to the examination, students will be required to submit a 1000 word account of their reasoning of the case¿s clinical diagnosis to inform the oral examination discussion.
