CSC-10029 Fundamentals of Computing
This module will provide students with an introduction to the core computational intelligence topics of evolutionary algorithms and neural networks, and some of the similarities and differences between natural and synthetic intelligent systems.
Aims
The aim of the module is to provide students with an introduction to the core computational intelligence topics of evolutionary algorithms and neural networks, their use in vision systems and robotics, and the similarities and differences between natural and synthetic intelligent systems.

Description of Module Assessment
1: Open Book Examination weighted 100%Online open book examThe paper will be released on KLE on the morning of the exam. The paper will contain 3 questions; Q1 is a compulsory question, students then choose between Q2 and Q3. All questions will primarily be problem based, with the students expected to address a small case study or example problem using one (or a combination) of the Computational Intelligence techniques covered in the module.
Students will be given 24 hours to complete the exam, though the exam will be written in such way as to only take 2 hours of the students time.
