This 30-credit module builds upon subject-specific and practical skills that have been developed in previous years of the course to carry out an independent research investigation within an area of Geology and Physical Geography. The module will include project formulation, research design, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation and report production. The completion of this module provides students with experience of a number of subject-specific and professional skills that are essential for employment or academic research in geology and/or physical geography.
Aims
To build upon subject-specific and practical skills that have been developed in previous years of the course to carry out an independent research investigation within an area of geology and physical geography. To develop presentational skills in the form of a dissertation and oral presentation.
Intended Learning Outcomes

Description of Module Assessment
1: Oral Presentation weighted 10%Oral presentation on independent projectOral presentation of 10 minutes duration on independent project, including aims, objectives, methodology, results and conclusions.
2: Report weighted 90%Independent Project ReportIndependent project report of approximately 9000 words plus figures.
