Description for 2023/24

This is a distance learning core module for the MSc in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and the MSc in Advanced Practice.
The module will enable you to develop a comprehensive understanding and critical awareness of a chosen field of your professional practice, through research and enquiry that will inform the development of your professional practice/services.
Students will conduct a project into an aspect of their chosen area of practice and will be supported by a named supervisor.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate a critical awareness of a current issue or problem within their area of professional practice, through the critical evaluation of relevant literature, and formulate relevant research/evaluation question(s) with identifiable objectives and outcomes.: 1
Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of methods of research and enquiry to answer the research/evaluation question(s).: 1
Demonstrate the ability to make sound judgments relating to data collected (including incomplete data) and communicate findings and conclusions clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences.: 1

Study hours

300 hours of independent study, supported by an academic supervisor which will include up to 50 hours of supervision, face to face contact and structured engagement with online resources.

Candidates must have successfully completed PHA-40161 (Introduction to Research Methods) and PHA-40163 (Research in Practice) as well as received School ethics approval where relevant to the project.

Project report/dissertation - 10,000 words, excluding appendices
10 000 word project report describing the research they have carried out for this module.
