Description for 2024/25

This module enables you to apply fundamentals of nursing care and develop their communication and reflective skills in a clinical practice setting related to your field of practice and in simulated placement learning. Students are supported by a practice supervisor, practice assessor and academic assessor.

Aims
to:
introduce you to your chosen field of clinical nursing practice and develop clinical nursing practice knowledge, skills and professional values in your first year.
- Learn and practise clinical skills in a simulated environment and apply to practice settings.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate safe, effective, compassionate, evidence-based nursing practice in a clinical setting in accordance with the NMC Code (2018) through successful completion of remaining practice proficiencies within the practice assessment document with a focus on fundamentals of nursing practice: 1

Study hours

Breakdown of active learning hours-
In situ- 34hrs (Lectures, seminars, tutorial, workshops, practical classes, assessment preparation and simulation)
Synchronous- 10hrs (Lectures, tutorials)
Asynchronous - 40hrs (Guided independent study including preparation for scheduled sessions, follow up work)
Placement learning hours- 300hrs
Independent study hours - 216hrs (Wider reading, revision, assessment preparation)
