This module will enable you to further develop your knowledge and skills in a clinical practice setting relating to your field of nursing, managing more complex health needs and the care of a group of people, prioritising health needs, and recognising opportunities for health promotion. You will be supported by a practice supervisor and academic assessor and will be assessed in practice by a practice assessor.
Aims
to - Develop clinical nursing practice, knowledge, skills and professional values, during your nursing placement in your field of nursing practice. - Learn and practise clinical skills in a simulated environment and apply in practice settings - Develop reflective practice skills to aid integration of theory and practice learning

Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate safe, effective, compassionate, evidence-based nursing practice in simulated and clinical settings in accordance with the NMC Code (2018) through successful completion of selected practice proficiencies within the Year 2 practice assessment document, and including first aid procedures and basic life support: 1,2Demonstrate appropriate, professional interpersonal skills in simulated and clinical practice settings using a range of strategies with colleagues and people at different stages of life with a range of mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural health challenges: 1,2Apply effective, defined knowledge, skills and behaviours to provide person-centred care for a person with complex needs, or for a small group of people in a specific episode of care, including undertaking a `whole person assessment¿, use of evidence-based practice, recognition of healthy lifestyle choices, and assessment and management of risk: 1,3Reflect on development of personal leadership qualities and team working skills and develop reflective practice skills to aid integration of theory and practice learning, in their own field of nursing practice with a focus on building a rapport in practice.: 3Students are required to demonstrate professional conduct at all times during their placements. Students should work within ethical and legal frameworks and be able to articulate the underpinning values of The Code (NMC, 2018). Professional Values reflect a number of proficiency statements and are captured under the 4 sections of The Code.: 1,2
Breakdown of active teaching hours- In situ- 18hrs Synchronous 16hrs (Lectures, discussion, seminars, tutorials, workshops, assessment preparation and simulation) Asynchronous- 26hrs (Guided independent study including preparation for scheduled sessions, follow up work) Placement hours: 450hrsIndependent study- 240hrs (Wider reading, revision, assessment preparation) Due to the dynamic nature of nursing programmes, the above breakdown may be subject to alteration.
You will not be able to complete this module unless you are in good academic standing, having successfully completed the previous part/year 1 of your BSc programme
