Description for 2024/25

The Module will provide you an excellent grounding into the theory and advanced applications in Microeconomics at the PG level. The Module explores established theory as well as modern extensions into decision-making by individuals and firms, the concepts of efficiency, and the economics of choice under uncertainty. The Module nurtures a blend of analytical and intuitive reasoning. Further, there will be a focus on empirical and policy applications of the concepts discussed in the module.

Aims
The Module aims to give students an excellent grounding into advanced Microeconomic applications, at the PG level. Both established theory and modern extensions will be covered. The Module will nurture a blend of analytics and intuitive reasoning and will emphasise empirical and policy applications throughout.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Critically assess the key theories and analytical methods of advanced microeconomics

Assess the theory of consumer choice, production and market exchange and its usefulness in a variety of applied contexts

Evaluate the features, efficiency properties and relative merits of different market structures and their implications for current economic challenges
