The module introduces exercise testing and assessment of physical activity and fitness within healthy populations.There is a strong focus on building communication skills relevant for professionals post graduation and offering them skills they may be able to apply outside of university whilst studying.
Aims
This module aims to introduce students to the principles and assessments of health, physical activity and fitness across a healthy population.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Introduce and interpret measures of health at rest and pre-activity screening, to determine contraindications, precautions and adaptations to participate in an exercise test: 1Perform and interpret measures of aerobic power, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility and body composition: 1Communicate effectively to participants/ clients when performing testing procedures: 1Integrate measures of physical activity and fitness, into an overall health profile: 1
Active learning includes:~33 hours of teaching via classroom and seminars~3 hours of tutorials~20 hours of directed study94 hours of independent study will be student led.
