Description for 2024/25

The module aims to prepare students to work in the sport, exercise, health and rehabilitation industry, whilst also developing transferable skills (such as communication, professionalism, presentation techniques) that can be applied in a variety of employment settings and specialties.

Aims
This module will encourage students to explore the skills and attributes associated with professional roles within the sport, exercise, health and/or rehabilitation industry.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Deconstruct contemporary sport and exercise terminologies within a professional context.: 1
Describe the current sport and health structures and associated professions in the UK, including their funding streams.: 1,2
Discuss of the importance of life-long learning.: 2
Demonstrate an understanding of the concept and process of personal reflection, as an ongoing professional career development tool.: 2
Discuss the professional, legal and ethical responsibilities associated with interactions with peers, the public, and the healthcare professions.: 1,2

Study hours

Active learning includes:
- 30 hours of teaching via class-based seminars
- 10 hours of directed careers skills
- 10 hours self-study (e.g. CV360, Interview360, CareerEDGE+);
- 10 hours of asynchronous directed study
90 hours of independent study by the student:
- 70 hours self-directed study
- 20 hours of assessment preparation
