Description for 2024/25

Aimed at healthcare professionals working in advanced level practice roles, this module will challenge you to critically reflect on your current practice. The opportunity to explore the associated theoretical models will develop your expertise in consultation, clinical reasoning and clinical decision making within your field of practice.

Aims
This module will enable you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in advanced decision making, increase your ability to formulate and justify clinical decisions, apply appropriate interventions and plans within complex clinical environments, and to work effectively in an advanced role within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Study hours

A blended learning strategy has been devised:
Active learning hours = 100 hours. This includes direct teaching providing a range of approaches including lead lectures, case discussions, workshops, personal tutorials, preparation for assessment and pre-reading prior to classes, and assessment (conducted as peer presentations).
50 hours are provided for independent study. This provides time for collaborative inter-professional working with other MSc students and clinicians in the workplace.
