This second year MSc nursing module focuses on the important topic of evidence-based practice in nursing. Knowledge and skills used in nursing need to have an evidence base to be safe and effective for people with healthcare needs, requiring nursing care. This module will enable you to understand the principles of synthesising research to inform and influence high quality evidence in nursing applied to your field of nursing practice. This module will support you in the final year of your studies when you will undertake a dissertation, and as a Registered Nurse to ensure care is evidence based, and challenge this as required.
Aims
To develop your questioning, critical, reflective practitioner skills; so you are able to confidently and persuasively discuss, share and apply evidence-based, findings with others; to make evidence-informed person focused decisions and challenge practice when required.

Breakdown of active learning hours-In situ- 11 hrs /11hrs synchronous (Lectures, discussion, seminars, tutorials, workshops, assessment preparation Asynchronous- 2hrs (Guided independent study including preparation for scheduled sessions, follow up work) Breakdown of independent study hours- Independent study- 126 hrs (Wider reading, revision, assessment preparation) Due to the dynamic nature of nursing programmes, the above breakdown may be subject to alteration.
Students need to have successfully completed RPL part one of the Nursing programme before commencing this module.
