This module focuses on the key nursing skills of appropriate clinical judgment and decision-making in nursing practice which are core to the role of the competent registered nurse. You will develop your knowledge of assessment tools to assist you in making safe judgements about people¿s healthcare needs relevant to your field of nursing.
Aims
To enable you to demonstrate critical thinking, decision-making and team-working skills to manage and provide continuity of person-centred care in partnership with people with healthcare needs, their families and carers.To support the development of your presentation skills.To prepare you for the numeracy examination.
Intended Learning Outcomes

Breakdown of active learning hours:In situ- 13.5hrs / Synchronous-13.5hrs (Lectures, discussion, seminars, tutorials, workshops, assessment preparation).Asynchronous- 7hrs (Guided independent study including preparation for scheduled sessions, follow up work).Breakdown of independent study hours- Independent study- 116hrs (Wider reading, revision, assessment preparation) Due to the dynamic nature of nursing programmes, the above breakdown may be subject to alteration.
You will not be able to complete this module unless you are in good academic standing, having successfully completed the previous part/year 1 of your MSc programme
